Description of Responsibilities: | 1. Conduct comprehensive dental hygiene assessments for pediatric and adolescent patients, including oral health screenings, dental charting, and periodontal evaluations. 2. Perform gentle and thorough dental cleanings tailored to the unique needs of pediatric and orthodontic patients, including removing plaque, tartar, and stains. 3. Educate pediatric patients and their parents/guardians on proper oral hygiene techniques, emphasizing the importance of brushing, flossing, and maintaining good dietary habits. 4. Provide age-appropriate fluoride treatments and dental sealants to prevent tooth decay and protect vulnerable teeth. 5. Assist orthodontists in preparing patients for orthodontic procedures, including taking impressions, photos, and X-rays. 6. Educate patients on orthodontic appliances, such as braces and retainers, and provide instructions for proper care and maintenance. 7. Monitor orthodontic treatment progress and assist in making adjustments to appliances as needed. 8. Collaborate closely with pediatric dentists, orthodontists, and other members of the dental team to ensure coordinated patient care. 9. Conduct oral cancer screenings and identify any abnormalities or signs of oral diseases in pediatric patients. 10. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes, medical histories, and orthodontic progress reports. 11. Sterilize dental instruments and maintain a child-friendly and welcoming treatment environment. 12. Stay updated on the latest developments in pediatric dentistry and orthodontic care through continuing education and professional development opportunities. 13. Adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety standards to ensure the well-being of pediatric patients and staff. 14. Comfort and reassure pediatric patients to alleviate dental anxiety and promote a positive dental experience. |

Experience Requirements: | 1. Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program. 2.Valid state license or certification to practice as a dental hygienist. 3. CPR certification and knowledge of basic life support techniques. 4. Experience working in a pediatric or orthodontic dental setting preferred. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and adolescents. 6. Ability to adapt dental hygiene techniques to accommodate pediatric and orthodontic patients. 7. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. 8. Empathy and patience when working with young patients and their families. 9. Proficiency in using dental software for patient management and charting. 10. Commitment to upholding professional ethics and patient confidentiality. 11. Certification in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation. |
